WEBQUESTS AND WEBQUEST DEVELOPMENT SITES

FOR TEACHERS

“A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The model was developed in early 1995 at San Diego State University by Bernie Dodge with Tom March, and was outlined then in Some Thoughts About WebQuests.”  The following list contains websites which instruct teachers on creating webquests as well as individual webquests that can be adapted for your classes.  There are several sites with groups of webquests.  NOTE1:  Some of the webquests do not specify a grade level and can be adapted to several grade levels and/or subject areas.  NOTE2:  Some webquests appear on more than one list.  NOTE3: This is a completely new list, not an update.  NOTE4: If you have created a webquest, please send us the URL so that we can add it to a future list.

Access these sites through your computer’s Internet connection.  Open the underlined address (URL).  Information can be printed or downloaded to your computer.  Be sure to follow links to other sites and find your way back with the “Back” button.  All of the sites were active as of April 29, 2002.
